Flowers can represent beauty, love, growth, fragility, celebration, memory, change, life, or loss. We want to see what they look like through your eyes.
Open Call for Artists presents Flowers Through the Eyes of Art, an international virtual exhibition bringing together artists from around the world to explore flowers through their own artistic perspective.
Flowers have been part of art for centuries. They can be delicate and quiet, bold and expressive, familiar or completely imagined. For some artists they are simply a subject. For others, they carry a much deeper story, connected to a memory, a person, a place, a season, or a feeling.
We are interested in how different artists observe, interpret, transform, and reimagine something so familiar, and we welcome artists at every stage of their creative journey.
A detailed floral study, a still life, a botanical work, a landscape, an abstract piece, or a completely imagined world.
They can appear as a small detail, a recurring element, a symbol, or simply the inspiration behind the work.
Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, illustration, digital art, collage, mixed media, textile art, installation, video, and more.
Flowers have been a part of art for centuries, appearing in paintings, photographs, illustrations, textiles, sculptures, and many other forms of creative expression. But every artist can see and interpret them differently.
Flowers Through the Eyes of Art invites artists to explore flowers from their own point of view. You might be drawn to their colour, shape, texture, movement, fragility, beauty, or connection to nature. You might associate a flower with a person, a place, a memory, a season, or a particular feeling.
Your artwork can explore flowers in a direct or unexpected way. You may create a detailed floral study, an abstract interpretation, a still life, a botanical work, a landscape, or a completely imagined world. Flowers can be the main subject of your work, appear as a small detail, or become a symbol or idea within a larger story.
The theme is open to different artistic approaches. You can explore beauty, growth, nature, love, memory, change, seasons, life, fragility, renewal, celebration, colour, connection, or simply the visual qualities of flowers. You can also take the theme somewhere completely personal and create work based on what flowers mean to you.
There is no single way to interpret this theme. Whether your work is realistic or abstract, quiet or bold, personal or conceptual, we invite you to show us how you see flowers through your art.
