Why Apply?
Selected artists will have their work professionally showcased in a virtual exhibition, designed to highlight their talent and creativity. This curated space offers the chance to connect with a global audience, gain recognition, and share your story with an engaged and appreciative community.
Light and shadow are among the oldest and most universal languages of art. From the earliest cave paintings to contemporary digital works, artists have used contrast, brightness, and depth to tell stories, reveal emotions, and create meaning.
This theme invites you to explore the many ways light and shadow shape not only our visual world but also our inner lives. It can be literal: the glow of sunlight on a canvas, the dramatic contrast of black ink on white paper, the play of shade across a sculpture. It can also be metaphorical: the light of hope against darkness, the shadow of memory in contrast to the clarity of the present, the tension between what is seen and what is hidden.
Open to all mediums, Light and Shadow welcomes painters, photographers, sculptors, printmakers, textile artists, digital creators, performance artists, and beyond. The interpretation is yours. It may be an exploration of chiaroscuro, a study of geometry, an emotional dialogue, or an abstract play of tones and textures.
Whether bold or subtle, personal or universal, every work becomes part of a larger conversation about duality, balance, and perspective. Through this theme, we discover not only how artists see light and shadow in their work, but also how they find meaning in the spaces between.
